Thai AirAsia Launches Maldives Travel Fair in Bangkok, Thailand

Thai AirAsia along with All H Maldives and Maldives Getaways has hosted the 2nd Maldives Travel Fair in Bangkok Thailand as part of the Maldives Travel Fair that started off in Malaysia in September 2017. The Thai fair took place on the 28th of September 2017 at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in the capital city of Thailand, Bangkok. The whole purpose of the fair was to showcase affordable travel options in the Maldives.

Exhibitors in the fair included leading guesthouses such as Shallow Lagoon in Alif Alif atoll Rasdhoo, Serene Sky in Alif Alif atoll Thoddoo, Plumeria Maldives in Vaavu atoll Thinadhoo, UI Inn in the satellite town of Hulhumale’, Sunrise Lodge in Vaavu atoll Keyodhoo as well as Adaaran Resorts which operates six fully fledged resort properties in the Maldives and Villa Hotels and Resorts which runs five resorts which also exhibited their award-winning products.

AirAsia along with its local partners, All H Maldives which is the Maldivian ticketing partner for the airline as well as Leading PR and marketing firm Maldives getaways have been actively involved in promoting Maldives as a destination on a budget.

Malaysia-based AirAsia operates a direct daily service to the Maldives from Kuala Lumpur, while its joint venture Thai AirAsia runs a separate non-stop daily connection between Bangkok and Male. These airlines offer a low-cost option for travellers coming to the Maldives, especially from South East Asia.

South East Asia has posted strong gains in tourist arrivals to the Maldives, with a 19.3 percent increase in the first half of this year. The biggest gains were observed in the number of visitors from Malaysia (34 percent), Philippines (22.5 percent) and Thailand (18.9 percent).
