Ministry of Tourism has revealed that tourist arrivals from Italy this year have risen significantly.
Statistics from the Ministry show that Italy is the fifth largest market with 49,080 visits so far this year, which is a 1,024 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, a total of 900,808 tourists have visited the Maldives as of 20th July, which is a 58 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
In addition, the latest statistics show that the highest number of tourists visited from India, with 120,604 arrivals, which is a 35 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The second highest number of tourists visited from the UK with 96,470 arrivals, which is a 608 percent increase compared to last year.
Tourist arrivals to the Maldives have increased for all markets this year, with the highest number of tourists visiting from India, the UK, Russia, Germany, and Italy. A large number of tourists have also visited from the US, the UAE, France, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia.
