The Ministry of Economic Development and the Embassy of UAE in Male’ hosted a webinar yesterday titled, “Investing in Renewable Energy: Opportunities for Maldives and UAE”. The webinar was targeted for investors from the renewable energy sector of UAE.
In her welcome remarks H.E Heba Aljneibi, Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of UAE in Male’ highlighted the special relationship between UAE and the Maldives and expressed her desire to enhance trade and investment between the two countries. Her Excellency also noted the efforts and achievements of the UAE in the field of renewable energy and climate change mitigation.
Furthermore, Mr. Mohammad Abdelqader El Ramahi, Director, Asset Management and Technical Services of Masdar, UAE shared their valuable experience and expertise in investing in the renewable energy sector in the UAE and globally.
An overview of the Maldivian economy and the opportunities for investment in the Maldives were presented by the Ministry of Economic Development. The various investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector were further elaborated by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology. A session was also held to respond to participants’ queries and sharing of experience.
In the closing remarks, H.E Khadeeja Naseem, Minister of State for Environment, Climate Change & Technology highlighted the Government’s target of achieving net zero emissions by 2030. The Minister of State also thanked the Embassy of UAE for the assistance and support extended to the Maldives and for co-hosting yesterday’s important seminar.
