Cyclonic storm “Burevi” in northeastern Sri Lanka is slowly tracking toward southern India and is located in Gulf of Mannar approximately 760 km NE away from Kelaa, Haa Alifu Atoll.
Maldives Metrological Center (MET) said that the low pressure over southeast of Maldives in the Indian Ocean has intensified further.
MET has issued a white alert from Baa Atoll to Addu city between 1400hrs-2000hrs as strong winds of 19-24 mph and gusts of 45 mph with rough seas and wave surges are expected.
Moreover, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit to some islands in the next 24 hours.
