Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated that all major events that will be held in the Maldives for World Tourism Day 2021 will hopefully be held in Addu City.
While speaking at the ceremony held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the British Loyalty wreck yesterday, Minister Mausoom stated that while the first tourism event of this year has been held in Addu, the mayor of Addu, Abdulla Sodiq had proposed to hold the major events for the World Tourism Day in the southernmost atoll as well.
While World Tourism Day is typically celebrated with exuberance in the Maldives, the country was not able to celebrate it in 2020 due to implications brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, Minister Mausoom expressed hope that this year, the major events of the day will be held in Addu City.
