Football Association of the Maldives (FAM) along with the help of FIFA, has made several efforts to develop football throughout the Atolls where it has planned to develop Natural Grass Grounds in 18 Islands.
Mr Bassam Adeel Jaleel as the president of FAM stated that the projects will start as soon as it gets approved by the authorities. He further stated that the islands are selected based on the 2017 and 2018 list of top Islands in ‘Minivan Championship’ and the rest based on the future of football along with talent and achievements throughout ‘Minivan Championship’.
The grounds are to be developed on Haa Dhaal Kulhuduhfushi, Haa Alif Muraidhoo, Shaviyani Milandhoo, Shaviyani Foakaidhoo, Baa Eydhafushi, Baa Fehendhoo, Alif Alif Maalhos, Alif Dhaal Fenfushi, Dhaal Kudahuvadhoo, Faafu Nilandhoo, Gaaf Dhaal Thinadhoo, Gaaf Dhaal Hoadehdhoo, Thaa Thimarafushi, Haa Alif Dhihdhoo, Seenu Feydhoo, Seenu Hithadhoo, Gnaviyani Fuvahmulah and Raa Alifushi.
