Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (MNPHI) for infrastructure development projects in five islands across the Maldives.
The agreements for all five projects were signed at a special ceremony held at the Planning Ministry on Thursday, by MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim and the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed.
The first project MTCC has been contracted for is the AA. Ukulhas Harbor Upgrading Project, valued at MVR 37.2 million. Scope of work under the project will include harbor dredging operations of 4,954cbm, construction of a 5m breakwater, a 553m revetment, a 264m quay wall, a connectivity bridge and a concrete jetty, installation of 1,640sqm harbor pavement and installation harbor lights. This project is to be completed in 365 days.
MTCC was also awarded the ADh. Dhigurah Harbor Upgrading Project, valued at MVR 53 million. This project is to be completed in 570 days. Scope of work under the project comprises of harbor dredging operations of 64,416cbm and channel dredging of 6,770m, construction of a 287m breakwater, a 98m revetment, a 294m quay wall, a concrete jetty, installation of mooring buoys, installation of 1,640sqm harbor pavement and installation of harbor lights.
Additionally, MTCC was awarded the Sh. Maa’ungoodhoo Harbour Design & Build Project, valued at MVR 59.7 million and to be completed within 475 days. Scope of the work under the project includes harbor dredging operations of 59,013cbm, channel dredging operations of 3,245m, construction of a 362m breakwater, a 105m revetment, a 312m quay wall, a ramp, a concrete jetty, installation of mooring buoys, installation of 1,509sqm harbor pavement and installation of navigational aids.
The Th. Dhiyamigili Coastal Protection Project was awarded to MTCC as well, valued at MVR 23.1 million and to be completed within 365 days. Scope of work under the project will include harbor construction of a 205m breakwater and a 392m revetment.
Lastly, MTCC was awarded the Th. Vilufushi Coastal Protection Projection. Valued at MVR 11.1 million, this project was awarded to be completed within 130 days. Scope of work under the project will include dredging operations of 3,047cbm, dredging operations of the swimming area up to 1,869m, construction of a 135m groyne, construction of a 184m revetment and installation of barrier floats along the periphery of swimming area.
