The Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) in collaboration with Maldives Polytechnic has recently concluded a 10-day training programme designed to equip local tour guides with extensive knowledge of the culture, heritage, and islands visited during the MITDC Savaadheetha tour.
Offered free of charge by Maldives Polytechnic at the request of MITDC, the course is structured to enhance the knowledge of tour guides about the port islands encountered throughout the Savaadheetha tour. “Savaadheetha Dathuru”, a yacht rally organised by MITDC, is scheduled to run from February 10 to February 29, 2024. It promises an adventurous journey from the northern islands to Kaafu Atoll to Seenu Atoll, covering nine inhabited islands and one uninhabited island, including K. Kudagiri and V. Fulidhoo, among others. The rally offers participants a unique chance to immerse themselves in the peaceful rural life and the stunning underwater vistas of the Maldives.
The Savaadheetha tour has positioned itself as a notable tourism venture in the region, garnering positive responses from various international organizations. Beyond promoting tourism, the training programme aims to inspire and educate the youth in the field, preparing a new generation for the growing tourism industry.
The training programme’s curriculum is delivered by experts from Maldives Polytechnic and the Ministry of Higher Education, ensuring that participants receive high-quality instruction and insights into the tourism sector. This initiative highlights the commitment of MITDC and Maldives Polytechnic to fostering sustainable tourism development and cultural exchange, ensuring that the Maldives continues to offer enriched and meaningful experiences to its visitors.
