The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure has launched online programmes to familiarise the public and construction sector stakeholders with regulations under the Construction Act (4/2017), inviting interested participants to register.
The ministry stated that the sessions will be conducted in two parts during 2026, with sign-ups for the first part opening on Monday, 30 March. Interested participants are asked to complete their registration via the Google Form link provided by the ministry between 30 March and 2 April. For further information, participants can contact 7256557 or email development.cidd@infrastructure.gov.mv.
The sessions aim to provide detailed guidance on the Construction Act and related regulations, including the issuance of construction permits, approval of drawings, and procedures for handling regulatory violations.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Finance and Planning published the “Regulation to Determine Hulhumalé Development Controls,” which prohibits residential use on the ground and first floors of buildings and requires a dedicated parking level. The regulation takes immediate effect, replacing the previous “Regulation for Planning and Building in Hulhumalé” issued on 26 April 2023.
The ministry confirmed that the schedule for the first part of the programme is now available, allowing participants to plan attendance for the upcoming sessions.
