Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has started a project aimed to overhaul and redevelop the sewerage system in the capital island.
The project was unveiled at a special ceremony held at the Carnival area of Male’, and the project was initiated collectively by Minister of Tourism Mr. Moosa Zameer, Managing Director of MWSC Mr. Fazul Rasheed and Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim.
The new sewerage system is being developed for the next 50 years with an estimated population of 300,000, as opposed to the previous system which was developed 30 years ago for an estimated population of 70,000 only. The project reportedly has a capital of MVR 75 million, and the pump will be placed at Male’ industrial village.
