Marriott International to open Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort in 2019

Marriott International is to open Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, the first of Westin Resorts to be launched in Maldives.

Set in central Baa Atoll, the resort is being developed on the island of Miriandhoo. Scheduled to open in February 2019, the island is accessible by a 40-minute seaplane ride from Velana International Airport or a domestic flight to the Dharavandhoo Airport followed by a 20-minute speedboat ride.

The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort is designed by Italian studio Peia Associati and will be integrated with inventive architecture and stylish interiors that feature exquisite local materials. Double skin system building natural shelters will have an advanced organic shape and provide natural ventilation and calm shading.

Located in the Maldives first and only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort will have 70 luxurious villas and suites with the signature Westin Heavenly bed that allows a justly uplifting sleep. The resort will also feature fully-equipped world-class fitness studio and the Heavenly by Westin Spa with amenities and services that are relaxing and rejuvenating.

The resort is jointly owned by Sri Lanka’s largest investment bank Asia Capital Plc and Japanese mail order company Belluna Co. Ltd. The project is expected to cost USD 45 million. Westin hotels and resorts are designed to enrich guests well-being through stimulating amenities and innovative packages that help them be their finest self while being away from home.
