Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted by the Environment Ministry to build a waste transfer station in ADh. Kunburudhoo.
The contract was signed on behalf of MTCC by the COO Shahid Hussain Moosa, and on behalf of the Ministry by Deputy Environment Minister Mohamed Ansar on Monday.
MTCC stated that waste transfer stations play an important role in a community’s total waste management system, serving as the link between a community’s solid waste collection program and a final waste disposal facility. The company added that once the facility is constructed in Kunburudhoo, it will help the island manage its waste more conveniently.
Scope of the project works include conducting site clearing and concrete works, screed and block works, roof structure, perimeter drain and access ramp. MTCC will also conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) before commencing physical works on the project.
While the project is valued at MVR 7.67 million, MTCC is required to complete the project in 140 days.
