Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted towards the implementation of access improvement platforms for 6 islands in zone 1 under the high-speed ferry network. The client is the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure of the Government of Maldives. In a ceremony held today, CEO Adam Azim signed on behalf of MTCC and Ms. Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed, Permanent Secretary signed on behalf of the Ministry.
The six islands on which the access improvement platforms will be built are Ha. Hoarafushi, Ha. Dhidhdhoo, Ha. Kelaa, Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi, Hdh. Hanimaadhoo and Hdh. Nolhivaranfaru. Scope of work for the project includes demolition of capping, demolition and reconstruction of pavement, construction of the access improvement platform and installation of mooring bollards. After the completion of this project, passengers will be able to embark and disembark with ease and convenience from the vessels whether it is high or low tides.
Integrated national public ferry network is a landmark project spearheaded by the government with the aim of connecting the whole nation through a reliable and convenient high speed ferry network. The implementation of this project was handed to MTCC under 3 phases. Once fully implemented, MTCC’s objective is to provide a reliable and customer-oriented service for the customers.
