President appoints Fathimath Ameeza as MIRA Commissioner General of Taxation

- President Muizzu appointed Fathimath Ameeza as MIRA Commissioner General of Taxation, effective 16 July 2026.
- Ameeza has over 16 years at MIRA, previously serving as Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation.
- She holds a Master's in Accounting from International Islamic University Malaysia and a Bachelor's from Oxford Brookes University.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Fathimath Ameeza as the Commissioner General of Taxation at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
Ameeza assumed the position on Thursday, 16 July 2026, following parliamentary approval for her appointment.
She has served at MIRA for more than 16 years and previously held the position of Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation. During her career at the authority, she worked on tax policy reforms, institutional management and efforts to increase government revenue.
Ameeza also previously headed MIRA’s Enforcement Division, where she worked to recover outstanding tax and non-tax revenue through data analysis and evidence-based policies.
She holds a Master of Science in Accounting from the International Islamic University Malaysia and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
