Ministry of Housing has awarded a 10,000 square feet land in Male’ Industrial Village to State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) to construct and operate a back-up generator to be used in emergency situations.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Managing Director of STELCO, Mr. Abdul Shukoor at a ceremony held at the Ministry. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Muizzu stated that the land was gratuitously awarded to STELCO to provide the necessary electrical grids and services to the area, as well as being a back-up for emergency situations in Male’ City.
According to MD Shukoor, the work on the engine would be completed and be operational within 18 months.
