Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has introduced a new service called “VaaruPay”, where traffic and parking violation fines can be paid online via their website. According to MIRA, this service was introduced in order to make it more convenient for people to make the payments, anytime, anywhere unlike going to MIRA or tow yard everytime.
According to MIRA, registration is also not required to attain this service. Only the slip number, vehicle number and the ID card of the person is required and payments can be made by a debit or credit card. Once the payment is done, a confirmation receipt will be e-mailed.
MIRA also stated that they are working on making more and more services online, to make it more convenient for the people.
