The geographic gap narrowed
Annual inflation in the atolls was 1.56 percentage points above Malé in June. The monthly increase was also larger in the atolls, at 0.35%, compared with 0.19% in Malé.
CPI and inflation are different
The CPI is the index level. Inflation is the percentage change in that index. CM should show both, but must not label the 110.30 index value as an inflation rate.

Food drove June's increase
The all-groups index increased by 0.281 points. Food and beverages contributed 0.536 points, equivalent to 191.2% of the net increase, as declines elsewhere partly offset the rise.
Within that group, vegetables alone contributed 0.547 points, while fruit subtracted 0.098 points. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels subtracted 0.156 points, transport subtracted 0.115 points and furnishings added 0.012 points.
