Ihavandhippolhu Integrated Development Project (iHavan) is an integrated project which will be developed in Ihavandhippolhu atoll in Northern Maldives. This project aims in capitalizing the commercial prospective of the location by building a port, an airport, a cruise hub, a yacht marina, a dock yard, commercial and financial centers and a place to discover the tourism potential of the country.
The Master plan of this project was handed over to a Singapore based company, Surbana Jurong Pvt Ltd., where the agreement was signed in a ceremony held in Hulhule’ Island Hotel last year. According to the Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed, the master plan of this project is expected to be completed before the end of this month.
Furthermore, the feasibility study required for this project has now been completed by a United States based company, Boston Consulting Group. Minister Saeed further added that the details of this project will be revealed to the public once the master plan is completed.
iHaven Project is believed to be one of the most fundamental projects for President Abdulla Yameen for the country’s economic development and the project is developed under the Special Economic Zones Act. Ihavandhippolhu is geographically the largest uninhabited area in Maldives.
Making Maldives a trade center for international shipping lines travelling with cargoes worth trillions of dollars is one of the key economic visions of President Yameen.
